Did you know that more than 58 BILLION dollars of assets are sitting in missing money state funds? And those numbers grow daily. Could some of those funds belong to you or the people you love? Oh yes, they could! I have personally recovered thousands of dollars from the unclaimed property in states where my parents lived before their deaths.
So, why are there 58 BILLION dollars in unclaimed monies? The short answer: because people forget. You would be amazed to know how much money gets into government coffers when a loved one passes on, and those left behind have no idea where to look to find all the assets the deceased person left behind.
A non-profit organization called NAUPA, the National Association of Unclaimed Property Administrators, is charged with helping oversee unclaimed property. You can find out if you or a loved one has unclaimed property by visiting NAUPA’s site, www.MissingMoney.com, or www.unclaimed.org. If you discover that there is unclaimed property, you can then go to the website in the state where the unclaimed property is to process your claim for your missing money.
If you have further questions about unclaimed property or want to connect with Cris to discuss your own assets and estate plan, call Cris Carter Law at 719-434-0000 or schedule a complimentary check-up by hitting this link.
