Your Best Investment is in Yourself

We are coming out of a period of uncertainty into a season of change. COVID-19 has had a profound impact on the way we live our lives. As the short-term effects subside, its lasting significance is just beginning to make itself known. However, resilience in the face of adversity is in our blood as a nation.

We are a nation of dreamers. We each have an ancestor (or two) who left everything they knew to chase a dream in a strange land—a land of equality in opportunity, where one’s only limitations were their aspirations.

“If you can dream it you can do it” – Walt Disney

As we approach the United States’ 245 birthday on July 4, 2021, take a moment to acknowledge how the American Dream is a part of your past, present, and future. We are here today as a product of someone chasing their dream. We have that same entrepreneurial spirit within us.

We each have the strength to navigate unknowns, the resolve to come back from loss, and the courage to create something amazing. Your greatest resource is yourself.

Everyone has something to offer that goes far beyond just the products or services you provide. What can you do that other people can’t? What can you provide that other people need? Start exploring the resources within you, and you’ll realize that you’ve found your way of contributing value to the world.

This season of change could be the perfect time to access the wealth of resources within yourself to fund your next level of growth. Even in the lowest of times, many people forged their own paths and grew their wealth through entrepreneurship.

“It always seems impossible until its done” -Nelson Mandela

Maybe you, like many of us, were raised to think that the safest way to live in the world is to have a good career and a steady paycheck. A sad yet common attitude sees money as a scarce resource and income as something outside of our control.

It doesn’t have to be that way. The truth is, money is a tool that you can access and multiply, independent of anyone else’s permission. A shift in mindset could change a crisis into a unique opportunity for you or your family.

“With the new day comes new strength and new thoughts” -Eleanor Roosevelt

It’s time to invest in yourself. Learn to use your gifts, skills, and talents to serve others in a big way. Your best investment is in your resourcefulness, your creativity, and your community. Bring these together, and your family can rely on you and what you’ve created, and you can trust that your children will be great, no matter what.

Our collective entrepreneurial spirit has led to some of the biggest, modern strides in technological advancements such as the telephone, the airplane, the internet. Each generation inherits the cities, knowledge, and history of the previous generation and builds upon them. Times have been tough, it’s true. But we have the strength, resolve, and courage to do something amazing for our children to build on. When you invest in yourself, that joy (and success) is contagious. It is shared by your community and taught to those who look up to you.
